Meet Madison Pollard, born on April 22,2012 at 8:29p.m., weighing in at a healthy, 7 pounds, 11.5 pounds. I arrived at the hospital in San Diego, less than 24 hours later to photograph and meet her. Katie and Mike are first time parents and you would of thought that Madison was their third child, so relaxed. Madison on the other hand, was probably the most alert brand new baby that I have ever met. She definitely like the camera, she was looking right at my lens during the whole shoot. This is going to be a fun first year with Madison, I have a feeling she is going to be a natural in front of the camera. Oh, the fun we are going to have. You might remember Madison’s mommy and daddy from a little over a month ago, Kristi and Mike, and their maternity session in Rancho Santa Fe. Click here to see those photos. Studio Z has been working closely with Kate over the past couple of years, photographing her jewelry line, celebrity events and even designing fliers for display cases in the Buckle. We have watched Kate Mesta’s jewelry line grow from its infancy stage; being sold in a few boutiques, to the giant it is becoming!!!

Kate Mesta’s line is now being offered in Hundreds of boutiques around the country, The Buckle, Nordstorms and most recently, Cesar’s Palace!

We LOVE working with Kate and we are so excited to see the things to come for this wonderful designer.

Many celebrities came through the gifting party; some of the regulars like my friend Todd Bridges and some new faces like Tawny Kitaen. Tawney was the super hot model from the Whitesnake video, doing a back-flip on the hood of the Jaguars.

Other celebs included John Schneider (Bo Duke), Cindy Williams (Shirley from Lavern and Shirley), Luenell (Borat) and Boo Boo Stewart (Twilight).

These events are so much fun to be a part of and we never know who we’ll get to meet! -Bill

The motorcycle rally was both fun and emotional. Over a thousand people attended and donated to the fund. Officer Wilson’s daughter was also in attendance and spoke before the crowd and read a beautiful poem she wrote about her father. It was very emotional to see hardened men and women, in full riding leathers wiping tears from their eyes as she read her words.

Michelle and I were honored to do our small part for this event by offering a family portrait session in the auction and providing photo and video coverage of the day. All proceeds collected and donated go directly to the family of Officer Wilson.

This time the gifting suite was held at Paramount Studios in L.A.

Lots of you have been asking me about how we get these events to photograph.  Well, here’s the short story:

At the beginning of 2010, Michelle and Bill hooked up with Kate Mesta of Kate Mesta Inc.  Kate is a jewelry designer out of Laguna Beach who makes edgy belt buckles, dog tags and leather cuffs.  Kate’s business has skyrocketed in the past year and she has been repeatedly asked to work the gifting suites at these huge Hollywood events like the Oscars, Teen Choice, Grammys, Emmys, Music Awards and various charity events like the St. Bernard Project.

Every piece of Kate’s jewelry is hand made in her studio in Laguna Beach.  She is featured in The Buckle, Caesars Palace, Nordstroms and over 700 HUNDRED boutiques throughout the U.S.

So over the past year or so, Studio Z has been Kate Mesta’s go to photographer for all of their events and product/lifestyle shots.  We absolutely LOVE working with Kate and her team!!!  We feel so blessed to be able to meet these celebrities and get these opportunities we would otherwise never have the chance to do.

I think the three highlights of the evening was meeting Dick Van Dyke, Martin Kove and Ioni Skye. We all know who Dick Van Dyke is, but Martin Kove played the bad karate instructor in the original Karate Kid and Ioni Skye was one of my childhood crushes. She played the hot, brainy girl opposite John Cusack in Say Anything. Other celebrities I met this evening were Tito Ortiz (fighter), Danny Trejo (Spy Kids, Machete), Erik Estrada (CHiPs), BooBoo Stewart (Twilight), Vivica Fox (Independence Day), Larry King (CNN), Nolan Gould (Modern Family), Sarah Drew (Greys Anatomy), Jimmy Bennette (No Ordinary Family), Jason Earles (Hanna Montana), Kyle Massey (Cory in the House), Rip Taylor (He’s been in everything) and Jenna Jamison (You know what she’s been in). Super fun event and lots of good food and conversation. I have yet to be star struck…..perhaps if I meet Crispin Glover or Tim Burton…one day??!! – Bill
