We started the session at her home in San Juan Hills. We then went to meet her best friend, Elmo, her horse. He was so handsome and loved the camera. We ended the session at beach with a gorgeous sunset.

We did the path I like to take throughout downtown and as luck would have it, the weather was overcast; perfect for photos.

To say Ashley (blond) is camera shy would be a complete lie. On the contrary, she is quite the ham in front of the lens and needed little to no direction at all. With every click of the shutter, she re-adjusted her body, smile and pose. Someone has been watching too much Americas Next Top Model!!!

So we got some fun photos around town and quickly headed over to the beach where is was super gray and cold! Even the weather couldn’t bring down the spirits of the two. They were just super excited to be in (June Gloom) So-Cal!

We met at Warm Waters in Carlsbad and began with the whole group. Studio Z photographed Kristen’s 15th birthday at The Crossings last May; a year later we’re super happy to be their photographers of choice!

The entire family was there, so we even got mom and dad involved for a final sunset silhouette photo.

Four months from tomorrow, February 8, Taylor will be graduating from High School. Closing a chapter in his life, only to be starting a new one. As a mother, I am so proud of who he is today and what he has become at this point in his life. Honest, wise, caring, intelligent, loving and strong.  I won’t lie, I am a little sad.  Because, honestly, it feels like I was just bringing him home from the hospital yesterday or watching him take his first steps, sending him off to kindergarten, trying to hold my tears back as he ran off.  Now, here we are, almost 18 years later.  As Kenny Chesney sings, “Don’t Blink” , I don’t think he could’ve wrote it better.  ”Life goes faster than you think.”  Trust me 18 years goes faster than you think, this I speak from experience. It’s funny, I think back to the days when I did daycare so I could stay home with Taylor and Bailey. I won’t lie, it was probably one of the toughest things that I have ever done, raising children that were not mine.  My children sharing me 10 hours a day.  But, I would not change it for anything; for I was there every morning, afternoon and evening. I didn’t miss a moment with Taylor. I do miss those special moments, the moments I took for granted from when he was little.  I miss all of his hot wheels, coming in from the backyard covered in mud from head to toe, those precious little flowers that he would pick for me and we would put in a vase.  I think I had a new flower everyday, that his little hands picked for me.  I miss watching Thomas The Train and Lion King with Taylor. I will never forget when we took his training wheels off of his bike at the age of 3, such a proud mommy moment. He was so darn cute on his little bike.  I am so grateful that I embraced every moment, every challenge, every tear, and those nights when I was exhausted but he begged me to read one more page and I did. Thinking to myself, one day he will be to big for this.

So, here we are now, ordering his cap and gown, his graduation announcements.  Applying for housing at colleges. Waiting anxiously for the letters from the other colleges he applied too. WOW, it really is happening. I just hope that I have built a strong enough foundation for Taylor, so when he starts this new chapter in his life, it will be an amazing chapter. I don’t doubt it will be built with challenges and triumphs. The attributes that make us stronger.  My wish for Taylor is that he meets fascinating people, that his dreams stay big and his worries stay small.  I hope his days come easy and the moments pass slow and each road leads him to where he wants to go. If one door opens to another door closed, I hope you keep on walking till you find the window. If it’s cold outside show the world the warmth of your smile.  I hope you never look back, but you never forget all the ones who love you and the place you left.  I hope you always forgive and you never regret and you help somebody every chance you get. Always give more than you take. While your out there getting where your getting too, I hope you know somebody loves you and wants the same things too.  This is my wish for you Taylor, I love you little man. May you never need to carry more than you can hold. You make me so proud, your soul and your heart is truly the kindest. ~Mom
